Not that this restaurant needs another five star review, but I’m leaving one. My husband has celiac disease and we have not found a restaurant in the greater Kalamazoo area that he can safely eat at. Even the ones that take extra precautions have made him incredibly sick. It really just comes down to a lack of knowledge and training for this type of allergen. It’s always a fear to eat out and after hearing so many great things about this restaurant, I decided to give it a try. I actually reached out to the head chef and spoke with him directly, and I could tell that he was incredibly educated on alternative flours to use on certain dishes that were gluten-free and he informed me of his whole routine for avoiding cross-contamination while cooking. My husband was actually a little upset when I made the reservation because he didn’t want to get sick AGAIN, but we thought we’d give it a try. Because we don’t get to eat out ever, my husband actually ordered two main entrées while I ordered one just so we could try a couple things on their menu because everything looked so delicious. First, our waitress was phenomenal. So down to earth and helpful and caring and she went above and beyond to make sure my husband understood that he could safely eat in this establishment. Second, the food was to die for. Cooked perfectly, quality ingredients that were fresh and so flavorful. The chef definitely knows how to highlight his ingredients without having to throw a bunch of salt on everything just to satisfy the American palette. It truly was an experience! Lastly, my husband didn’t get sick at all. It was the first time in years he’s been able to walk away from a restaurant feeling satisfied after enjoying a wonderful meal. I booked again for Valentine’s Day and had the same experience. Although it’s a restaurant that’s a treat to eat at, it’s definitely our go to place now.

My first time visiting from out of state we went for lunch because it was recommended by family. The menu sounded very nice but I was not treated very well when I stated that I have celiac. I did not feel safe ordering anything but a salad. Which was not really a salad, it was a bit of head lettuce, a couple slices of apple and some nuts. If you have allergies I do not recommend this place... Others at my table seemed to enjoy their food.
