Today 5/11, 2025 Mother's day We took Mother out for brunch. We were met right away & seated , nice interior, very pleasant. Seating was abundant so it was not busy like you would expect on Mothers day the busiest day of the year for restaurant goers. We had 3 menus to choose from, A Tea menu $120.00 per 2 people An Al a Carte brunch menu The regular menu we ordered to start Hash browns with caviar - looked like 2 frozen hash browns from sam's club, a tablespoon of sour cream divided on the 2 hashbrowns, with a teaspoon of what they called caviar on the sour cream. very poor presentation, & no flavor, a 5 year old could plate this up Lobster bites with a dipping sauce, this was ok, edible New England Clam Chowder, came out cold, now its a ruined dinning experience. Main course Cobb salad plus lobster, because they had no gluten free options Connecticut lobster roll, should be warm & it was cold ??? Maine lobster roll, was good Lobster Benedict, was very nice Dropping over $300 was very disappointing for a Chef with 48 years of experience in this industry To redeem our day, we went & purchased 5# king crab legs, made au gratin potatoes, & Cajun corn on the Cobb. Yes it was better than brunch, We will not return to Garbo's, over priced & under delivered.

Last night I ate at this restaurant with friends for the second time. Once again, I was blown away. This seafood place is full of fried foods and fabulous gluttony and I have severe gluten intolerance. “Why the heck did my friends bring me here?”, I thought. Typically at a place like this, I’m lucky if I can have the coleslaw with my cocktail. Garbo’s made sure I got to eat. The first time, I found out that I could have the fries and I almost kissed our server. They made sure that my food was safe and there was no cross contamination. Last night, not only did I get my fries (yummy), but our server explained that I could have fish and chips with rice flour as a substitute. “Shut the front door!” I said. “I’m in!” She explained the way the kitchen was laid out and how they do it. They also watch out for people who are allergic to seafood. They know that they’re a specialty food place but they do their best to make sure everyone can eat. If you are sever celiac, then you may still want to avoid the place but give them a call and see what they can do. Our server was also one of the Garbo family and she was fantastic! As a small business owner myself, I appreciate when another business goes above and beyond to make their guests happy. I highly recommend this place and I will be back soon. Thank you Garbo’s for giving me a great dining experience
