German Arms Hotel

Whilst the food tasted great today and the waitress Elizabeth was lovely, especially with my parter who is celiac, however she now has a severe case of food poisoning which has put a real downer on our visit today.

When in Hahndorf, one must try out German inspired cuisine. The interior of the German Arms didn't quite match its name, but the food and service was fantastic. We had Archie serving us and he was amazing. Understood dietary needs, and was so helpful in making some small changes to the menu items to accommodate. Friendly, considerate and relaxed - best service I've received for ages. For the first time, we found a place that does gluten free schnitzels that taste as good as and have the same texture as non GF schnittys. Golden, crunchy, moist, full of flavour. Why can't other restaurants do the same? We also had the roast pork shoulder with chat potatoes, roast beetroot, vegetables- divine. There are other of places to eat in Hahndorf, but you can't go wrong at the German Arms. Highly recommended.

I went to the German Arms Hotel with my family. My little one (and by extension me) has allergies to dairy, soy, egg, gluten, chicken, lentil, lamb and pumpkin. Thankfully the kitchen has a dedicate fryer for gluten free foods and they also use canola oil in it, rather than vegetable oil which could be soy derived. My food was absolutely delicious and I waddled out a happy lady. My husband who is also a vegetarian and gluten free was happy with his meal. Would 100% go back.
