Gertrude's

We’ve been to Gertrude’s twice now and can say the food is delicious! Their menu has so many options for gluten free which I love. The donuts are fantastic and actually what really brought me back a second time! I ordered the braised boar and it was amazing and my husband ordered the elk chop which was equally amazing. The atmosphere is beautiful since it’s at the botanical gardens, so you get a little glimpse of some that. Service was similar both times, not the best but definitely not the worst, just average.

What the...? Comes out of nowhere and, bam, it's just amazing! We so enjoyed the Desert Botanical Garden. I'd certainly return for another inspiring walk during my next visit to Phoenix. But Gertrude's was the absolute topper to a great day there. Marvelous food in an exceptional atmosphere. Service was outstanding as well. As a gluten-free vegetarian/vegan, I have low expectations at restaurants located within major tourist sites. So, I was fully prepared to order a standard salad with no croutons during our post-walk meal. I had planned to pair it with my own No Cow protein bar quickly consumed on the way back to the car. The typical No Cow chaser. And as much as I love my No Cow vegan bars, this one could be safely tucked away for the afternoon. Tofu on the menu! And a great lentil chop bowl to boot, along with other tasty items suitable for all kinds of diets. I know this sounds unbelievable, but dishes are prepared as you'd find them in a gourmet vegetarian restaurant. Totally impressed with Gertrude's, as was everyone in our party. Any Desert Botanical Garden visit in my future will end with another wonderful meal at Gertrude's.
