I have never been so upset with a bakery. My 21st birthday was May 25th, I wanted a cake and saw Gigi’s Cupcakes offer gluten free options. I made it very clear from the very beginning that I can’t have gluten. I sampled gluten-free flavors for my birthday cake. I picked the red velvet with cream cheese icing. I clarified numerous times over text, over the phone, and in person that I wanted a gluten-free cream cheese icing, red velvet cake. Once I picked it up it looked great! Upon taking it home for my birthday party, I cut into the cake only to find no red velvet, no cream cheese icing, and was left sick for days! I was already skeptical as the workers there spoke little English and were trying to charge me $140 for a 12 inch cake. They were able to give me a discount and I paid $112 which was still insane. but y’all were the only place I could find that offered gluten-free cakes like the one I wanted and it was too late. For my cake to be the exact opposite of what I asked for, for that price is absolutely outrageous! When I messaged the local Gigi’s Cupcakes about this issue, they completely disregarded me and then proceeded to leave me on read ignoring a very upsetting and dangerous issue. I am extremely allergic to gluten, I get very sick and can have health complications if I eat it. It’s so upsetting to me that someone in the food industry would be that indifferent about a FOOD ALLERGY. I could press charges for this, but I thought I’d give the company a chance first. The least y’all could do is give me a refund. I have photos to prove everything. And I’m tired of not being taken seriously, when someone says they need an accommodation on something they have absolute no control over, and could be physically harmed by, it should be anyone’s upmost priority. It would be mine.
