Golden Eagle

I really struggle to eat out, I’m Coeliac and require gluten free, a vegetarian by choice and peppers and tomatoes are too acidic and cause me stomach ache and reflux! I avoid going public but it was my partner’s Birthday and myself and the kids wanted to take him out. The member of staff who served me did her absolute best to sort my food for me, It was such an awkward order removing this and that and adding this and that, she had to enquire twice in the kitchen. Not once was I made to feel a pain in the arse, even though I know i was! Another member of staff also helped and both asked if my food was ok at our table. My food came perfect and I was so happy to enjoy a Chocolate Fudge cake for dessert. Besides my awkward self, my family had a lovely meal out, we thought it was good that the tables were set a nice way apart so you don’t feel cramped and you had your own space rather than being back to back with other people as is the case in some places we visit. This was our first visit and we will definitely come again. Good food, lovely relaxed atmosphere and staff who do their best!

I’m a coeliac, they offer a NGCI menu which I believe is the same at all Marstons run pubs, and there is a decent enough selection of what I like to eat. I had the hunters chicken which was cooked just right. My wife had the vegetable chilli and she too enjoyed her meal. I would like to see more options available on the NGCI menu, like bigger portions and sides( mushrooms are an easy non gluten side) extra cheese or bacon for instance. And also more option to change the plate, I don’t like steak but can’t change the steak for something else on a mixed grill at Marstons pubs unfortunately. Also only 1 g/f beer, it would be nice to see more rather than Peroni being the only choice. However all that being said, the pub was warm, service was friendly and efficient, and food was good. So we will come back again, I just hope people read these and make the odd changes to make the review a 10.
