I ordered the vegan impossible burger that is meant to be almost indistinguishable from the real thing... Low and behold it is! About 15 minutes after finishing the burger i was told by the wait staff that the burger id been given was actually meat.. Despite the fact I was told it was vegan when it arrived & also confirmed it was vegan a second time when I couldn't believe it...After 22 years of not eating meat i was pretty upset to realise i was given meat without my consent..
I appreciate the manager was apologetic & gave us a refund and a free drink but i don't really appreciate the fact that this occurred in the first place, the manager was great but the waitress that made the mistake was never to be seen again, she clearly has had limited training (or didn't seem to care?)
I strongly suggest your staff undergo further training that might stop this from occurring again..
If this had been a situation where you fed a coeliac gluten or someone with a nut allergy peanuts you would be dealing with a much bigger problem than a disgruntled customer with an upset stomach..
It will be very much unlikely that I will ever return to a place that can make such a huge dietary oversight, even after the customer questioned it.
At the time I didn't kick up a big fuss as I was out with friends and accepted the managers apology but the thought that I had eaten beef after 22 years of not touching meat has made me both physically and physiologically sick to the stomach and I hope this doesn't occur again to anyone else.
