Grapevine Cafe

Fantastic Cafe for breakfast, so mush so, went back the next day. Staff are efficient, friendly and helpful. Plenty of GF options for those that need them (wife is coeliac) and they know the importance of it. Could not fault the food, tried different dishes each day and all were 1st class. Coffee was great, Pineapple juice refreshing but the winner was the smashed Breakfast and a Mango smoothy.

Great introduction to start. Mainly friendly staff. Lovely outdoor area. However, I chose this cafe for its advertised gluten free options as I am Coeliac. When we told the friendly chap that I needed a totally gluten free option for medical reasons he seemed a bit annoyed. I asked what would be my safest option on their menu. He replied definitely not the pasta, then recommended perhaps the mango salad with the proviso that he couldn't guarantee anything was gluten free, which was odd seeing the menu advertised so many GF options. I ordered the salad without the chicken or prawns as I was not convinced he believed the seriousness of cross contamination with Coeliac. The salad was okay and I did not get sick which was a relief. I have read other reviews to the contrary since dining there. Shockingly I have just looked at our receipt and we were charged $1 extra to have the salad Gluten Free!! When it was listed on the menu as GF. It is a shame all food service providers don't educate themselves about Coeliac and food allergies. We are customers too. It is not that difficult to serve a GF meal option if you understand what needs to happen. Particularly with a salad. Definitely don't recommend for coeliac's.
