Grazie Nonna was, unfortunately, the most disappointing dining experience I had in the DC area. While our waiter was polite, he was largely inattentive throughout the meal — only becoming attentive when it was time to settle the bill.
The service was inefficient and frustrating. Our food took far too long to arrive, and about 30 minutes after placing my order, I was informed that there were no gluten-free options available. I declined to reorder, yet ten minutes later, the original dish I requested was brought out anyway. This level of miscommunication and disregard is unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber.
The atmosphere also left much to be desired — the space was uncomfortably loud, making conversation difficult, and the dim lighting only added to the overall discomfort. Additionally, I was not allowed to pay solely for my meal and my child’s; instead, the bill had to be split evenly among the entire party. As a result, the server’s tip was disproportionately high given the poor service, which I ultimately adjusted for the group.
It’s disappointing to leave a restaurant feeling let down, especially when I had high hopes for the experience. Sadly, I would not return to or recommend Grazie Nonna.
