I love love love this place! It's one of a handful of favorite eateries for my husband & I on the island. Super unique, dive bar like kinda atmosphere here.. the walls & things hung up on them, the designs & style of everything, the whole place is just quirky, cozy & personable. The menu is extensive, very unique & well priced. They have a little bit of everything here kinda but they put their own spin on it kinda here... Everything is what it says on the menu, but they just have their own style, flavor & taste here with everything they cook. They have fresh sweets up at the front to grab which I love. They make fresh coffee here with a little cafe menu & have extensive customizable options for the coffee which they make fresh upon ordering. Their coffee menu options are extremely unique, super delicious & I've loved every single one & tried every single one. If you like sweet, fun, cute coffee this is definitely a go to spot on island... Their biscuits & gravy are one of my top five favorites on the island to get, I absolutely love their biscuits & gravy spin - as like I said, they have their own style of doing every dish pretty much, it's always a little unique of a taste even on traditional dishes like this one. I've heard often that this is a spot known to readily oblige dietary restrictions, food allergies & eating preferences & such also, I know I've heard that a lot & swear I've seen multiple things on the menu referencing things like vegan or organic or gluten free, but I have no restrictions myself so not sure how much they cater to that kinda thing per se... with the experiences I've had there i would go ahead & bet that's probably correct as they seem like a pretty progressive, hip & "all are equal" kinda place... Would be surprised to hear anything discriminatory or politically incorrect coming from the practices or behaviors here. They are good for breakfast lunch or dinner for sure, they do great for all three. Their prices are great, the amounts of food are good, service is always awesome, the vibe is super chill, always plenty of parking & the location is easy to find & get to being off 61st like. They can get pretty busy - not uncommon to see a line out the door, but seem to manage the high volume well & have had surprisingly low wait times for the amount of people there the few times I have waited to sit here. The place is locally owned from what I've known & the woman I've been told owns it seems very hands on & I have seen her there often working alongside the employees & talking to customers a lot herself. I love the creativity & uniqueness that went into the menu & atmosphere here & will always prefer, support & promote local spending in communities so that's always a major plus for me. For a unique, not too expensive, local & high quality eatery I would highly recommend Gypsy Joynt! It's pretty much a staple here - would def say any local has heard of it or been there. Five stars! Highly recommend!
