Fun experience sitting on modified ground chairs like you can find in Asia! Food is vegan and modern, which surprised me. The food was okay! The presentation and service are great but I was not particularly impressed with the food. There is a gluten free section on the menu. Even though the other food options don’t look like they’d have any gluten, they have traces (e.g. sauce for one ingredient in mixed rice uses wheat)

This is a traditional and authentic fully vegan plant based and JAIN option available (no onions,no garlic,no scallions)restaurant in New York. featuring a unique ambiance that includes the tradition of removing your shoes before dining along with traditional seating options on the floor, ample legroom beneath the table, so you don’t have to fold your legs all the time. I would rate it a solid 9/10. The only reason I’m not giving it a full 10 is that the prices can be a bit high compared to the portion sizes. However, the taste is absolutely amazing, making it worth a visit. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to find a fully plant-based vegan restaurant—a rarity! I felt completely at ease knowing I could try anything on the menu. They accommodated our dietary preferences by making everything without mushrooms. We ordered the cauliflower bites and organic zen noodles, both of which were delicious. I highly recommend the kale dumplings wrapped in tofu skin, the wheat-free kale pancakes, the spicy grilled tofu, the spicy tofu kimchi hotpot, and the spicy kimchi stone bowl rice (bibimbap). Gluten-free options are also available! We also tried their beverages, including the iced matcha latte and hot and cold shisandra, and I recommend the iced shisandra—it tasted fantastic. They also provide disposable slippers for the washrooms. Overall, Hangawi is a fantastic restaurant, and I highly recommend everyone try it for an authentic experience of Korean cuisine in a @plant-based format.

Felt like I was at home. Loved the ambience and the food was heavenly. Tried the pancakes platter, cauliflower, hangawi stone bowl rice, and trisome for dessert. A huge menu for vegetarians (soy-free, gluten-free and several options for people with dietary restrictions) and the staff was very kind. One of the best meals I had and will definitely come back!
