Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Mississauga

I came to get hot pot with friends. The soup base is good, and there's a wide selection of meats/noodles/veggies. However, I have celiac, so I eat gluten-free, and the staff didn't seem to understand what gluten was, so I explained no wheat/rye/barley. We got the clear and tomato soup base as our server mentioned the tomato soup base was safe. When I got to the self-serve, our server quickly tried to explain what things to look out for. At some point, we were told we get free ice cream, and when I had asked if the ice cream could be put in a bowl, I was told they can't (even though I had come to this place once before and was given the ice cream in a bowl). When we went to pay, I asked to see the packaged soup bases, and when I selected the tomato soup base and the label said it contained wheat. I asked the server about it and was assured that the kitchen made soup base doesn't contain soy sauce, but now I am having a reaction, so I'm not too sure if they were being truthful. Would also like to mention that I had tried calling 3 times before arriving to try to make a reservation, but my call wasn't answered each time.

This is a yummy experience that is well worth treating yourself to. It’s fun to pick and choose your food and cook items in the little pot in front of you. Vegetarian/vegan and gluten free options available. It’s a big restaurant, no reservations available, but there’s no need to worry. Recommend the pineapple juice, curry broth and tofu skins - so good.
