If you haven’t visited Haymarket on River Road yet, you’re truly missing out on one of Louisville’s most delightful spots! This place strikes the perfect balance between charming and chic, with a farm-to-table atmosphere that’s both welcoming and stylish. The real highlight? They grow their own herbs and flowers, making everything feel incredibly fresh and personal. From the moment you step in, you’re surrounded by rustic wooden shelves filled with freshly baked bread, gluten-free pasta, artisanal olive oils, and other handpicked local goodies. What really stands out is how affordable everything is, especially considering the quality! You can enjoy a sandwich or salad, knowing it was made fresh that morning with ingredients sourced directly from their garden. And if you’re looking to unwind, they even host outdoor yoga sessions near their cozy coffee shop—a perfect blend of relaxation and great coffee. Whether you’re stopping by for fresh groceries, a quick bite, or just to soak in the ambiance, Haymarket is sure to become a favorite!

Nice selection of everything. Store cashiers and coffee shop staff were great. The drive thru is excellent. Good place for small children outside. If you don't have food sensitivities or a special diet, there's a lot to try! Downside is it's expensive, but it's also a lot of organic, farm-fresh stuff -- mushrooms are amazing. I got a fancy bottle of French pear cider. Lots of fun things to get for a grown up picnic. Most of the staff that I had to walk past or around (in the deli, fridge/frozen section, and sales floor) did not acknowledge my existence. The 3 produce guys were awesome. They made eye contact, asked if they could help me, & offered to "get out of my way". Now I sound like I was driving a truck thru the store. Just a cart. They were crazy busy on a Sat around lunchtime with a million little kids and and quite a few inattentive parents, but I worked in delis & specialty grocery stores for years. You greet the customers so they'll tell all their friends how great your store is and come back. Not Celiac safe in the deli or the bakery. The macarons were GF and separate from the gluten-containing products, but I didn't observe any precautions to avoid cross contact. I didn't risk it. Last time I was there I got excited when they said they had GF brownies. They were on the SAME TRAY, TOUCHING gluten cookies. The time before I asked at the deli if the salad I wanted was GF. They said yes, no gluten or dairy. The dressing had soy sauce which is made from wheat, but no ingredient label for the dressing so I didn't know. I had to throw out the fancy $10 salad I took to work. Disappointing.
