Okay, so I'm a vegetarian of 5 years and had heard through the grapevine that this place is a hidden gem. 100% correct.
Had some errands in the city near the cafe (I live in Airdrie) and decided to stop in. It being 330pm on a Thursday, it was very empty, but that didn't stop the proprietor from making me very welcome and assisting me with what to choose (bc I had no idea). A bunch of choices later, she bustled away to prepare my order, and I spent some time perusing the storefront portion of the establishment, which is completely vegan/vegetarian friendly and had some ingredients i didn't know i needed.
The drinks and food came out in short order, and I quickly, and very happily, dug into some freshly made pan-fried dumplings and then bbq "pork" steamed buns. Seriously, amaze-balls and 100% did not notice that they didn't contain animal products. Or nuts or gluten (not a thing for me but others can appreciate).
After I inhaled 2 persons worth of food (so good), my rubber arm was twisted when I went to grab some additional frozen packs of the steamed buns, and I ended up procuring 2 sample packs that she (Im sorry, I completely forgot her name) creates for people to make at home.
Considering that I left completely full, satisfied with what I ate, had a wonderful interaction AND purchased additional items (2 sample packs and vegan worstershire sauce), I paid less then what I've often paid at other Asian restaurants, well under $100. Oh, and I didn't partake, as I was solo, but she also does hot pot!
Btw, I just made up one of the mix packs at home, and it was absolutely fire (pic included, just missing the BBQ 'pork' steamed bun bc i left it in my steamer)
Tldr: hidden gem, fantastic food, prices and service, 100% will return.
