HopCat

Visited the SouthGate HopCat back in August of 2025. Several members of our cast and crew went as a very large group, closing to closing time, because we had just finished performing in our play performance of The Little Mermaid. After going out with my cast mates after three of our performances, I was really disheartened because all three previous times, I was unable to eat anything due to my gluten and dairy allergies. We picked hopcat because we had heard they had some gluten free options and I was crossing my fingers that they would be safe for my dairy allergy as well. Kristen and Nina took very good care of our table and took the time to check on options for me and check with the cook to make sure the options I selected were safe and could be prepared safely for me. When they found out the gluten free bun contained dairy, they asked me how I wanted to proceed and offered me some options. Although they didn’t have the option of a lettuce wrap because their lettuce comes shredded, they gave me a bed of lettuce and I was able to make a sort of makeshift hamburger salad. It was delicious! I do hope in the future they will offer more gluten free and allergen free options, including a dedicated gluten free fryer, but overall, it was a really good experience. The service from Kristen and Nina was 10/10 and even though we were a large table, near closing, they took excellent care of us and never made us feel rushed. 10/10 service and attitudes from the staff! I will definitely be back.

Really good food. Excellent fries. Good beer selection. A bit limited with gluten free options, but I had a great server who was able to make good suggestions. They brought my food, very specifically with the allergy modification and separated from the rest of the food. For the folks in my party who could enjoy the full array of the menu, they were really impressed by the food.
