Talents of gifted people are what I seek out for enjoyment, whether musicians, artists, actors --or in this case, a very talented and personable pastry chef. Lady Marmalade is cuddled between 2 other businesses, in a small commercial strip off Battlefield Blvd.
Care and quality were immediately obvious: from the signage, interior decorating (fonts used!), immaculate cleanliness, display layouts, and how pastries were put together. As you walk in, prepare to face-off against choices ranging from magic fairy fluff with dainty colors to decadent-heavy chocolate and caramel inventions.
I chose 5 very different items: a large orange-chocolate cookie, a mixed-berry coffee cake square, an aqua macaron holding spheres of milky chocolate, a cupcake sized sponge cake-like round with whipped cream&lemon curd filling, and a gluten-free chocolate ganache&caramel bar.
Yes, they were pretty, but BOTTOM LINE: YUM! The books were even better than their covers :)
