Inn of the Seventh Ray

We are a well known Dj company that specializes in weddings and recently got to work together with the staff @ The Inn of the 7th Ray for their tasting event. We just had to write a quick review to praise how amazing the venue and staff were. First off Amanda, who is the point of contact there for private events, is AMAZING. She treated all the guests like family and was SO informative and personable. The service of her team was top notch and made the event flow so smoothly. Additionally, the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD! They source the freshest ingredients and use local vendors whenever possible. Also offering many vegan and gluten free options and the result is nothing short of amazing. Delicious and healthy. In short, this is the most special place. The setting, the staff and of course the food are 5 star! For wonderfully intimate private event or dinner for 2, this is the place!

I’ve been coming here for over 30 years, usually to celebrate special occasions. There is no other place like it in LA - you are surrounded by nature and the sound of a nearby Brooke (in non-drought years). The atmosphere is very relaxing and healing, with soft music, healthy foods, small fountains and Buddhas scattered around. We especially love the Sunday brunch Buffett, which has something for everyone- from gluten free, vegan salads and desserts to shrimp and salmon and eggs Benedict. These are so many choices, everything is health conscious. We always come back stiffed but not feeling the way tou do after junk foods. This is a very special place and I hope to keep going for the next 30 years.

The food is great but the service is horrid. Specifically, the manager is incredibly rude, demeaning, and condescending. We had someone in our party with Celiac disease so we ordered the gluten free bread. Unfortunately, we were served regular bread which was disappointing but not what spurred this review. It was the managers response. Rather than being apologetic he was immediately confrontational and callously asked if he needed to call an ambulance. His response was not only rude but inappropriate. For a restaurant with so many dishes that they claim they can prepare gluten free they have absolutely no understanding of Celiac disease and the concept of cross contamination. They openly admitted that they cut the gluten free bread with the same knife as the regular bread. And rather than addressing the mistake with understanding and regret, their manager, who is clearly not equipped for role, chose to gaslight us and dismiss a medically documented intolerance. Additionally, we had multiple spiders on our table and we were seated by the kitchen where we could overhear absolutely atrocious conversations between servers. Absolutely will not be back. Most romantic restaurant in LA my ass.
