If you enjoy Italian food but have a gluten sensitivity, you are in for a treat at this gem of a spot. We dined at ItalX twice on a recent trip to Lexington while staying at the attached Marriott property. For dinner we had the farinata (made with chickpeas) which I would describe as a cross between a flatbread and a pancake stuffed with caramelized onions. For our entrees, we enjoyed the gnudi (like gnocchi but made of cheese) with both vegetables and the Bolognese sauce. To our surprise, all but one of the desserts were gluten free. We had the cannolis, and they were great. Our waitress let us know that they had several gluten free brunch items, so we returned later in our trip for brunch. During this visit we shared both the poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce and the tiramisu pancakes. Both were delicious, but the pancakes really stood out for my husband who has to eat gluten free. The service on both occasions was top notch thanks to the manager, Chris Allen, and his staff. We plan to return on future visits to Lexington.
