We soooo wanted to like Ivy League. We are mead lovers! But THIS. IS. NOT. MEAD. Please do not judge mead as a whole by what Ivy League is producing. We are routing for the mead community. It is gluten free, it is the only alcohol I can drink. BUT this is not it. We gave them two tries over a year and it was worse the second time. We have visited over a dozen meaderies this year, all over the U.S. Ivy League is the worst mead we have ever tasted. It’s undrinkable. If you are new to mead, please don’t judge your experience on what they have to offer. You are better going to a liquor stores such as Hop City with a diverse mead selection. Some great meads to try are Dansk, Schramm’s, Moonlight, Chaucer’s, Charm City, Queen’s Reward, and so many others that are delicious. So many diverse flavors, whether sweet or dry, something for everyone. The bartender was very kind and gracious, she did not charge us for the flight that we could not drink. However, one of the owners was at the bar, and the children of the owner were there running amok. As we pulled up, we could see the owner screaming at the children to try to get them under control, but it did not present a very inviting drinking environment. The entire time that we were there, the children were screaming and running around and throwing balls at each other and both the parent and the bartender were trying to get them under control with no success.

My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a while and were finally able to get there last night. It was a slow Wednesday night, so it was just us and the people that owned and ran the place, but we had a great time talking with them. We are gluten-free and that's what interested us about this place is that all mead is naturally gluten-free. The mead is absolutely fantastic and with the selection, there is going to be something that everyone will love. My wife and I both recommend the "Freedom" brew. The atmosphere is great and I can just envision the liveliness of this cute little bar on the weekends.
