**** Know that their suggested tip amounts (starting at 18%) is calculated on the total including tax, not before so the minimum suggested tip is over 20% and you are tipping on HST**** I have eaten a lot at Joey's over the years both business and for personal dining. My daughter and I have an annual Christmas shopping day together and always eat at Joey's Yorkdale. This year the experience was underwhelming. Our server was Angelina, it felt like she was either new or not in a great headspace that day. Service was slow, inattentive - not once were we asked if we would like another drink when our glasses were clearly empty. In past years we have had the guacamole w/corn dip as an appetizer, this year we told this was only available during Happy Hour. My daughter is Gluten Free and Angelina was not able to suggest an alternate appetizer so we only had 2 Tuna salads as our mains. When the bill came, I proceeded to try and work out whether the suggested tip amount was before or after tax. Angelina saw me on my phone with the calculator open and when I asked her if the tip was before or after tax she confidently said before tax. Even though the service did not really deserve a tip, with it being Christmas I proceeded to click the 18% option. When I got home and calculated the tip, the auto tip INCLUDES tax. So Angelina did not tell us the truth and effectively they suggest a tip on the tax amount. The actual tip amount is over 20% - I will choose another restaurant option in the future.

Absolutely incredible service and great food!! Angiolina & Wes were extremely attentive and made our night even better. I was meeting my BF’s mother for the first time and they made the experience special. I am also a celiac, and they were both knowledgeable on gluten free options and recommendations! We got the prawns ceviche and all ended up getting steaks for our mains, all turned out really good. Ended the night with some Molten cake (gluten wise and delicious) and cheesecake (was not gluten free but my boyfriend said it was incredible).Great night!!
