We have dined at Jak’s several times over the years, particularly because they have a good offering of Gluten Free fare. Last Saturday , we chose to dine there again for a late dinner. While we knew they had live music, we didn’t know the amps would be cranked up so loud. Sitting outside wasn’t an option because of the fire smoke we currently had in the valley. I have a brain injury, so the volume was pretty off putting, - people actually did go sit outside in the smoke because of that. But it was after 7, we were hungry, so we figured we’d eat quickly and go. However, our server, who was very nice, was new. It took a very long time to get our food, even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy. When the food did come, my steak was incredibly tough - I wasn’t able to tell the server about the condition of my steak until we were done eating, since she busied herself with other customers. It also took a very long time to get out check. When I did tell her that the quality of my steak was pretty bad, she apologized and mentioned that their main cooks had the night off and they had fill ins doing the cooking, and they really didn’t know how to properly make a steak. That’s it. No offer for a discount or anything. To make matters worse, there was a drunk guy being extremely loud, yelling at the end of each song and raising a general ruckus, with people telling him to F-off. Not one employee asked him to stop or attempted to calm the storm - it was like a night at the bar, instead of a neighborhood grill. It was just a generally miserable night. We couldn’t wait to leave. Maybe we’ll be back? Not quite sure at the moment. Perhaps the manager was gone as well, because it seemed like the staff were just in general not on top of things.
