Jack's Scarborough

We are regulars at the Don Mills Jack Astor’s and thought we’d give the Scarborough Town Centre location a try…big mistake!!! We ordered 2 Holy Smoke burgers ($25 each), our usual favourites, and they were a total disaster. Dry, small, and unappetizing…bread included, as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for way too long. The beer ($12) was flat and tasteless. The fish tacos ($24) were equally disappointing…tiny pieces of over battered fish that didn’t taste fresh. Two of the kids ordered pasta ($10 each) without issue, but the third needed gluten-free pasta. Shockingly, they were completely out. The offered “solution” was to order fullsize nachos ($28) instead, supposedly to share but they arrived cold and nearly at the end of the meal after everyone else was done eating. Asking us to pay that much for what should have been a $10 child’s meal was ridiculous. The garlic bread ($11) was another low point… sitting in a pool butter at the bottom of the pan, hard around the edges. On top of that, we had to repeatedly remind the server for water. For a bill of $150 BEFORE paying tax and tip…total being close to $200, the experience was completely unacceptable! The Scarborough location is nowhere near the quality, service, or consistency of Don Mills. A complete letdown… we will not be returning!!! Would give a negative star rating if I could.

I ordered a gluten free bun for my burger and had to ask for steak knife to cut it as it was so tough. I actually ended up leaving over half the bun. The waitress didn't acknowledge that I needed a steak knife or that so much was left. I waitressed fur many year and we were taught to ask a patron if there was a reason they left so much food. I was very disappointed that Brie simply took my plate and didn't acknowledge anything. We don't go out much anymore due to high prices and not sure we will go back to this location.

Victor was amazing and made sure my gluten allergy was accommodated for.
