Jen’s is a nice, clean restaurant, reminiscence of a local diner, yet contemporary at the same time. The first thing I noticed while waiting for a table is the outstanding staff. Each of them is serving the customer (and the business), cleaning, or bringing value to the business in some way. They are fast and efficient, always on the hustle. Our server was always scanning to see what be needed. She was extremely nice, polite, and customer-focussed. Every staff member I encountered was professional and accommodating. The restaurant was spotless, yet relaxed. With its combination of Americana, humor, and patriotic themes, the decor has effectively created an atmosphere that I find eye-catching and appealing.
We arrived about an hour before closing, and the place was crowded. Yet, we waited only about 8 minutes for a table. We ordered from a menu that is well balanced and should accommodate most appetites. There is something for everyone. Our food came out in a reasonable time. My wife ordered the Catalina Omelette. This humongous omelette, the owner later informed us, is a 10-egg omelette! My wife took more than half of it home for lunch the next day. My wife exclaimed, “This is the best omelette I’ve ever had.” It was because it was not over-cook as most are typically dry, rather than moist. Being a retired chef, this bruised my ego a bit. I sampled her omelette and had to agree. The dish was flawlessly cooked and seasoned. It's also a big plus that Jen's offers a wonderful gluten-free bread-toast my wife said was delicious.
I like spice. So, I ordered the Mexicano Scramble because I enjoy chorizo, guacamole , tortillas, and salsa. This dish did not disappoint. I requested a side of their salsa, and it was like what I make at home, but milder. So I was still a happy camper. I would readily recommend this to anyone.
The service was so outstanding; we requested to speak with the owner, Jen. Jen is such an amazing person. She easily spent 10 or more minutes with us, sharing her experience with us. She has a devout respect for the tough business in which she works, and the hardworking staff that reports to her. Her leadership is reflected in the positive attitude of her staff. This is clear in the cheerful greetings, collaborative spirit, and willingness to go the extra mile that permeates the workplace. There is a palpable sense of mutual respect and support among colleagues. This positive atmosphere translates into higher levels of productivity, improved customer satisfaction, and a thriving business. I believe Jen’s ability to inspire, motivate, and empower her team is the cornerstone of her success.
The most challenging part of my experience was deciding what to order off the menu. She offers so many of my favorite diner options. My wife last night commented, “I can’t wait to return to Jen’s.”
Well done, Jen, and all your staff. We’ll see you soon. Debbie and David
