I think we caught them on a bad day... the food itself was pretty good, but we did have a new waiter and the place was understaffed/short-handed. That being said, I ordered the loaded baked potato with pork, no sour cream. While everyone else's food was brought out, I was told that the kitchen staff put sour cream on it so they had to make another one. Then I waited another 10ish minutes or so before I got my potato. I asked for white sauce (I'm from Alabama; I NEED my white sauce). I waited another 10 minutes for the waiter to come back with a jug of tea and no sauce to tell him I needed sauce and my potato was getting cold. He gets half a sauce cup of sauce... what? I didn't realize this happened until he walked away. I poured it on less than half of my potato and proceed to wait again for another 10 minutes for him to come back to ask him for more white sauce for my potato that's getting pretty cold. I tell him, he goes to the kitchen, comes back 5 minutes later, and I'm told that last bit was the last of the sauce... I got the bottom of the bottle and it was nothing but liquid black pepper, which I was willing to overlook, had I had more sauce to even it out. I tell the waiter that I can't mix the two sauces, my potato is cold, and that I wanted another one. He gets me another one. Both potatoes had about two tablespoons of meat on them with 1 and a half potatoes. Don't get me wrong... I like potatoes, but I don't go to Jim N Nick's for the potato. I go there to eat that wonderful, smoked meat. I had SO much potato that I could barely taste the meat. The in-house sauce tasted like someone mixed siracha and ketchup together and it was watery. Now getting to the reason we were there in the first place... It was my boyfriend's birthday and he had his heart set on Jim N Nick's and met with just as much disappointment. He had a lot of friendly but frustrating back and forth about menu options for him with the waiter concerning his Ciliacs and deadly fish allergy, coming to find out that the waiter was told by the kitchen that the in-house sauce contained anchovies but the last time we came, the drive thru told us the in-house was anchovie/gluten free. My mom and step dad took us there to treat him for his birthday. She ordered the queso dip so my boyfriend could have some (it was the only side he could have). It took 20 minutes to find out if the chips were gluten free or not after when ordering it, the waiter told us he would double check the ingredients for everything my boyfriend ordered (he knew it was for my boyfriend even though my mom ordered). Lastly, my boyfriend ordered the beef brisket baked potato. Again. So. Much. Potato. So little meat. He was so disappointed and was really looking forward to a good meal and good experience for his birthday after having a rough week. The waiter's newness and my food experience wouldn't have been enough to urge me to write about my experience, but seeing the disappointment on his face was heart breaking. He really loved this place and had fond memories back when Jim N Nicks was only in Nashville. To him, this was one of very few that he thought could help suit his allergies so he could enjoy a normal meal like everyone else. I'm not sure we'll be coming back unless we're getting 1lb of meat to go from the drive thru; even then, I question that logic because of the allergy issue.
