Joe Italiano's Maplewood Hammonton

It’s been about seven years since I last visited Joe’s Maple Wood, and unfortunately, I can confidently say I won’t be back. My boyfriend and I had just finished hiking and decided on Italian for dinner. We ordered takeout online — figuring that was the easiest option. Big mistake. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp (an extra $4). What I received was not fettuccine, it was cold when I picked it up (even though I arrived at the exact 45-minute mark they gave me), and they had literally slapped some sauce on top with one lonely shrimp tossed in. Yes, one shrimp. Four dollars well spent. For dessert, I ordered a chocolate mousse, and my boyfriend ordered the Karen’s chocolate cake. After I picked up the order, I got a call that they were “out” of Karen’s cake and asked if he wanted a mousse layered cake instead. He said fine. When we opened the bag — there were two mousse layered cakes, which I cannot eat because I have celiac. Nowhere on the website does it specify that the mousse has cake in it. Mousse means mousse, not mousse plus mystery cake. My boyfriend ordered ravioli with meatballs and red sauce. The ravioli was fine, but the meatballs were burnt. Completely unacceptable. When I called to express my concerns, the girl who answered the phone was beyond rude — full of attitude — and acted like I was inconveniencing her. I asked for a manager, called twice, and couldn’t reach anyone. No option to leave a voicemail either. So here I am, writing this review as a last resort. Between the cold food, wrong food, missing shrimp, mislabeled dessert (dangerous for people with dietary restrictions), burnt meatballs, and unprofessional service, Joe’s Maplewood has officially lost me as a customer. Will never be returning.
