Joey's Burger Bar

I came to Joey’s Burger Bar with my family, and eating out is usually a challenge for me because I’m on a strict medical diet. I have to avoid soy, gluten, added sugar, and a number of other common ingredients, so I try to do my research ahead of time to make things easier and less uncomfortable for everyone. While they don’t have an allergen menu, the staff more than made up for it with their kindness and honesty. One of the employees didn’t know the ingredients of one of their house sauces, but she genuinely tried to find out for me. When she wasn’t able to get an answer, she was honest about that—and I truly appreciated it. That might not sound like much, but when you’re trying to protect your health, it means everything. Her honesty was incredibly helpful. I ended up ordering the Hawaiian burger but substituted grilled chicken and had it wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. I also left off the two sauces. I can’t have added sugar, so the grilled pineapple added the perfect touch of sweetness—and it was absolutely delicious. The only downside had nothing to do with Joey’s itself—we sat outside, and someone from a nearby patio (not theirs) was smoking, which wasn’t great. But again, that’s not on the restaurant, and it wouldn’t stop me from coming back. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Joey’s, for being so accommodating and never making me feel bad for asking questions. (And side note… what is up with Oak Ridge’s water? 😅 Yikes.)
