When I first saw that this place had opened, I thought it did not have a chance. Cafes depend on traffic. They are typically on street corners with shopping or offices nearby. This one in a more or less residential area in the Tete Centre in Kingston. The Tete Centre has a few things going on: art gallery, dance school and space for events like weddings, but it is not a busy place... except maybe on weekends.
Right next door is Queen's University's Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts. As well as an amphitheater that hosts performances, there are practice rooms for the music faculty. Again, not a hugely busy place.
Parking is difficult. There is part of a waterfront walking trail, but not very much of one.
In short, not a lot of traffic.
However, it is doing great business. Part of the appeal is the waterfront location and the great coffee. I have not tried much of the food, but it looks appealing.
Perhaps this is more of a specialty product that people will seek out.
Anyway, I can recommend it without hesitation, particular on a sunny summer day.
Update; I was there today, April 11. I was a rainy day and the place was packed. Food must be great. Coffee is good.
Update June 25, 2024. Beautiful, sunny day. People lined up. I had a gluten free brown. Just OK. not great.
