Champaign-Urbana breakfast is a dumpster fire. You can get so many different great kinds of food in town... Except breakfast. Unless you're paying $30 a person for brunch at Silvercreek or Big Grove Tavern, everything is varying degrees of fine to bad. For the last 10 years, I've literally been looking for a breakfast place that's affordable that I actually like - and I finally found it.
Simply put, Just Yolkin' is great. Our server, Cody, was incredibly kind and competent. The potato wedges are perfectly seasoned and crispy (there are no hash browns, though, but I'd take these wedges over hash browns any day). The pancakes were the best I've had in town (better than Original Pancake House and definitely better than Courier).
They also have items on the menu beyond the traditional "pancakes, eggs, bacon" - chicken and waffles with pearl sugar Belgian waffles (I didn't try those yet, but I've had pearl sugar waffles before and they're exceptional), my wife had a delicious Monte Cristo, gluten-free substitutions for pancakes/tortillas/bread are available, they got breakfast burritos, and so on! I'm genuinely excited to go back to try more off the menu.
Is this the best breakfast place in the world? No, it's probably a 4/5. The Monte Cristo could have been crispier, they could have real maple syrup instead of corn syrup, and the Columbia Street Roastery coffee (while better than bad diner coffee) is just fine. But given the competition in town, this is the only breakfast joint you should go to if you're looking to spend ~$15 on breakfast.
