Don't be fooled by the strip mall location along Aurora....Kazoku is a top-quality sushi restaurant in every regard! We recently relocated to the north end, and were looking for a nice sushi restaurant to celebrate a successful move. I chose Kazoku based upon the google reviews, and they exceeded our expectations! Staff (and sushi chefs) greeted me by my first name (from my reservation) when we walked in. The decor, lighting, and atmosphere were elegant and relaxing but not fussy in any way. It was an open kitchen layout where even those of us sitting at tables in the dining room could watch the sushi chefs in action. The music was upbeat, however, it was still possible to carry on a conversation. The service was outstanding. Kudos to Kate, our server, for her friendliness, kindness and for helping us sort through the myriad of options on the menu, including the available gluten-free options for someone in our family with celiac. And then, of course, there was the food. Everything we had was really good, if not great. Don't miss the California rolls that are made with real snow crab, which were not only "out-of-this-world" delicious but also gluten-free. We also had the sushi set, chirashi bowl, some uni, and a wagyu beef sushi special that was surprisingly amazing. The non sushi options were also really, really good. The fish cake udon (not gluten-free, unfortunately) was amazingly delicious and so soothing on a cold winter night. The dessert list is short, however, the green tea and red bean mochi ice creams were good and a nice ending to the meal. We all agreed that Kazoku is so far our favorite sushi restaurant in the Seattle area!
