Khao Tiew

This such a lovely space with great and friendly service and, most importantly, creative and delicious food. I also appreciate that menu items are clearly marked for vegan and gluten free, making it easier to navigate. I hope they eventually make their khao soi as a vegan version, so we can enjoy this northern Thai specialty.

We came in on a Thursday evening. There were a few parties there - one larger party and a few smaller parties. Their menu had many gluten free and vegan options which is great if you have people in your party that have dietary restrictions. We were greeted warmly by staff and they brought us water and the menus promptly. They allowed us time to peruse the menu and never hovered and took our order when we were ready. The three items we ordered were all very tasty and flavorful. The short rib can be cooked to your preference. We chose medium rare. The meat, along with the noodles and basil and onions provided for a delicious dish. This dish along with the Krapow Moo Sab can be made spicy but because my dining companion can’t eat very spicy dishes, we opted for mild. The oyster mushroom appetizers were served with a sweet and sour sauce and fried well - not too much batter. There was a consistent flow of patrons throughout the night and their staff regularly checked in on us. We never felt rushed. The restaurant is clean and we were able to enjoy our conversation as well as our meal.
