Konoba Mareta

It's difficult when looking at reviews for places as you often get mixed reviews. We arrived in Korcula later than we expected and needed to find a restaurant that offered vegan and vegetarian gluten free food. We were very happy with our choice. It's a lovely little restaurant and it was nice sitting outside in the lane with the evening breeze. We were impressed with the vegetarian options as there was more than one! We chose the summer lentils with rice , yoghurt dip was in a bowl so my vegan daughter was able to have this and the roast potatoes with horseradish dip, also in a bowl. It was nice being able to share 2 dishes that we could eat as vegan and gluten free. Both were delicious. The lentils were a bit like a dahl in texture but very delicate flavour. The potatoes could have been served a little bit hotter but were lovely especially with the horseradish. As nice as the potatoes were, I would suggest sharing them as it was just potatoes so you may want some other vegetables for a main meal. My younger daughter chose the chicken with peaches in a curry sauce with rice. Again this was lovely, she said it was nicely flavoured but no spicy kick. My husband opted for macaroni with meat sauce. He enjoyed this as it was homemade macaroni with small cuts of meat (not a ragu or bolognaise) in a tasty sauce. My daughter and I couldn't resist the Little Red Riding Hood dessert, which was mascapone with white chocolate, a bit.like a set mousse with a layer of raspberry sauce on top, really good. Although the menu doesn't specifically say what is vegan and gluten free it lists the ingredients so we could decide what was suitable for us. I would recommend this restaurant and had we had more time in Korcula we would have gone again.
