L'essentiel

Wow! This restaurant gets better every time I have lunch there. This is the ideal place to relax over creative and delicious cuisine after a morning in Saumur. Be aware though, for most of the year reservations are absolutely necessary. The food is amazing. They have at least one vegetarian selection and one fish. The food is prepared and presented with exquisite care. The fact that the vegetarian option on the daily menu was also gluten free is amazing. The wine list is encyclopaedic and I have never had a disappointing aperitif, main course, or dessert wine. L'Essential had a Michelin mention, but it is a crime that it does not have 2 stars. I highly recommend this place. It is always booked in advance as the locals know they are on to a good thing.
