3 reasons why this was one of the best dining experiences ever:
1 - FOOD
- Empanadas and cubano sandwich are popular, for good reason.
- Papas locas and the ribeye with chimichurri were perfectly prepared.
- I asked for the most authentic, unique menu item, and they gave me Pastel de Choclo, which I would describe as a cornbread pot pie. Every bite was insanely flavourful.
- Cevice was super fresh (the owner said they keep it to simple basic ingredients so you can taste the freshness of the fish, as opposed to other places that add extra ingredients to mask inferior fish)
- Lots of gluten free options for those who need it.
2 - SERVICE/ATMOSPHERE
- The owner, Alex, spent time talking with us and sharing how this restaurant came to be (ie. travelling the world, paying cooks to let him come back to the kitchen to learn from them) and his passion for food from his heritage and many other cultures.
- The place itself is comfortable, not too loud, and very inviting.
3 - PORTION/PRICING
- Every meal was generous in portion, and all pricing was fair.
Bottom line, I've never been so impressed by an owner and his heart for people and his love for his product. With so many amazing items to try, I will be back many more times. I hope you try it too.
(PS - The owner joked about how he watches people pull up and sit in their car, reading reviews like this. He's glad he gets good reviews, but he said he just wants them to walk through the doors so he can give them, in person, an experience they'll never forget!)
