I approached this restaurant because I saw that they offered gluten-free options. However, when I asked if they were suitable for people with celiac disease, they explained to me that they could not guarantee the absence of cross contamination. Unfortunately, it is another place in El Chaltén where this issue is confused and they asked me if I had a 'high degree of celiac disease', a concept that does not actually exist. It is important to remember that cross-contamination can affect the health of anyone with celiac disease, even if they do not have immediate symptoms. In addition, they told me that one of the members is also celiac and does not feel any effects from cross contamination. While each person is different, this does not mean that gluten is not harmful to the health of those who have this condition. It would be ideal if the team could avoid this misinformation, so we can all enjoy a safe and peaceful experience.
