La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana

We’ve frequented La Viga over the years and the seafood has been fresh every time we have visited. I like ordering the Caldo de Mariscos (seafood soup with lobster broth) when I have the chance as it is filling but not too overwhelming and has the right amount of flavor. The tacos are reasonably priced and have lots of flavor (love the crispy shrimp and salmon tacos). Ceviche is a hit or miss, as sometimes they add too much added ingredients (mango, sauce,…) and it takes away from the ceviche. They are celiac / gluten free friendly which is a plus. We’ve always made reservations, and sometimes there is a short wait. I was surprised that they did charge us for a separate cake cutting fee even though we didn’t use their cutlery/ plates/ knives.

NOT SAFE for those with ALLERGIES! I have food allergies including gluten which I clearly articulated that to the waiter ordering the seafood soup. We removed the noodle from the order but when the soup came in, it contained something that looked like breaded fish. I asked another waitress if that fish was indeed breaded and she said no. She wasn't really happy about us asking twice. I almost bit into it when she came over and said that indeed the fish was breaded. They took the soup back and my partners food was getting cold as they were making the second batch of the soup. This is not a safe place for people with allergies. Additionally, we ordered tequilas for the table and when we were done eating our waiter came over with a Cinco de Mayo special for tequilas. Why did he not offer that to us when we were looking at the tequila menu?
