La Chaparrita

We love this place and go whenever we can, but for the last two years or so, finding it open has been a real struggle. Even though Instagram, the restaurant itself, and Google Maps all say it's open, we've only eaten there twice out of the last five times. Today we arrived at 8:30 pm (the opening time on Instagram and here), but it was closed. We saw on the door that they opened at 9:00 pm, waited until 9:10 pm, and still nothing. If you go on a Friday or Saturday, it's not a problem, but outside of those two days, it's very difficult to find it open. We hope they improve this, or at least, if they can't open for whatever reason, they should post something on social media. We're all human, and problems arise, but informing customers prevents unnecessary trips or, as in our case, having to look for a gluten-free alternative on a Sunday at 9 pm…

It had always been a go-to Mexican restaurant for my family, where you could also eat gluten-free knowing they had the issue under control. Well, on our last visit, when we ordered dessert, they served it with an insect on the plate, something I find inconceivable and a huge oversight. I'm sorry to say they've lost a customer.
