Legends at The Monument

This was excellent. I was able to get a gluten free toastie and use vegan cheese. Lots of options for those with allergies and the staff were lovely.

I have climbed Wallace Monument many times when growing up but this was the first time I visited the cafe underneath, as I was visiting with a friend from abroad. I can honestly say I think the soup I had is the best bowl of soup I have ever had. It was leek and potato and wasn’t creamy, instead in a clear broth and it was excellent. I had a toastie with gluten free bread and it was also very good. There were plenty of veggie and gluten free options and I would return in a heartbeat. The staff were super friendly and it wasn’t fancy or pretentious in any way. It was clean, welcoming and the food was great Scottish food that you want on a cold day - soup and a sandwich. They also do baked potatoes and toasties and loads of cakes too and everything was very well priced. No tourist trap here. You should visit!
