First experience in this restaurant that we had heard so much about... You can easily find space in the parking lot, it's free, no worries on that front!
When we arrive, it's rather confusing. We expect a nice establishment, and we use the entrance to the ice rink/swimming pool... But once through the door we enter another universe! The decor is magnificent, each object is worth a look. We no longer know where to look. Our table was in the Jean-Baptiste Nolin ceremonial tent with its chandeliers identical to those of the Château de Chambord... We are amazed!
Once settled, we have the wine list, rather well-stocked, with very reasonable prices! The choice of bottles around €20 is large, with quite a few references from the region.
And then we can head towards the buffets... And the hardest part is knowing what to choose! I was able to taste Serrano hams of several kinds, caviar, the famous Blood Duck which is carefully prepared in front of you. We continue with the cheese buffet which is completely delirious with the choice available. The hardest part is when we get to desserts, it becomes difficult to swallow anything else :D Ice cream, homemade whipped cream, pastries, marshmallow, nougats... I inevitably forget some, we could write a book about it :)
In short, it's a real culinary experience, thanks to the friendly, helpful team, always available to help!
Another point: my wife is gluten intolerant, we wondered what she could eat! Well, she was spoiled for choice, allergen sheets are available, and the chefs themselves accompanied her to make her choice!
Big positive point on that side.
The negative point regarding "gluten-free" is the bread... It was very good, but impossible to taste it for the intolerant/allergic since it was in contact with the other breads (and perhaps see in kitchen cross contamination).
And we also came to celebrate a birthday! The staff who came to sing with the gramophone, we loved it :)
Negative points because we are French:
- The scale on arrival does not work well... I took 25kgs between your scale and mine :D
- The spaces between the buffets are quite narrow when there are people, it is not easy to move around
- You're a bit far from home, don't you want to open another establishment in Montpellier? :)
In short, very happy with our visit!
When we read some very negative comments, we wonder if we have set foot in the same establishment!
