Leslie's Tavern At Rockingham

We've had a home 15 minutes from Leslie's Tavern for quite a few years now, but somehow never made it there for dinner. Tonight, that changed! We had the most wonderful meal, served by the absolutely delightful Leslie, herself! We expected a good meal, based on the reviews we'd read, but what we got was far more than "good." We got a sweet ambiance in a beautiful farmhouse, a lovely server, and a meal that was absolutely divine. (We also got to watch Leslie shooing away a fat little chipmunk who was nibbling on the tomato plants -- the chippie may have been annoying, but boy was he cute! ) The food was the true star tonight - excellent quality, thoughtfully made... rather like elevated comfort food. We both had the steak smothered in onions with a wonderful sauce on it. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The people at the table next to us got a salad as a starter, and it looked amazing! (Mental note made for next time!) Dessert was not to be missed -- the carrot cake was delicious, and the creme brulee was just as good. My husband had one of the current specialty drinks with dinner and really enjoyed it -- I think it was a bourbon and maple old fashioned. We told Leslie to expect us back soon -- we plan to become "regulars"!

Delicious! Pleasantly surprised after not coming in a long time. Also has many gluten free options if needed.
