Lime Wood Hotel

Went here for a celebration lunch in the main restaurant on Saturday. The decor was lovely cosy and inviting. The staff really elevate the experience , warm and welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. We had really good food, Gluten free options were clearly explained and I could choose something from the lounge menu too as the starters mainly contained gluten. Wine non alcoholic and alcoholic was very good too. The only thing that was a negative was the £4 charge for tap water!!!! I could forgive the gin and tonic £20 but being charged for tap water when you are paying 12.5% service charge anyway was really terrible. Also the choice for gluten free puddings was, ice cream or sorbet which for such a skilled kitchen lacked imagination so I skipped that even though I would normally have had one. Generally a good time and delicious food but bring your own water bottle !!!

Hotel is beautiful and the spa was brilliant. Staff A*. Lots of special extras and detailing in the rooms. Only let down was the food. We ordered 2 vegetarian gluten free afternoon teas and one vegetarian afternoon tea. We were all served 3 vegan gluten afternoon teas. Was such a let down after seeing all the lovely cakes on display. The cakes were very dry and lacked any sweet taste and the sandwiches had strange fillings like tofu .
