We had dinner on Wednesday, a bit late but we weren't the last seating. The room was about 60% full, a good, relaxed vibe. I love the idea that everything is prepared from scratch and enjoyed watching the action in the kitchen. On this particular evening, the gluten free options were somewhat limited, but Carolina knew the menu and the ingredients very well, and helped me to identify options that would suit my joy-killing "dietary disability".
My husband had the focaccia for openers (and I ate the cultured butter - yum) and we shared the grilled cucumber, the maitake mushroom, the pork chop for two, and the pavlova. Overall, the presentation was simple, allowing the flavors and textures to stand out. Each dish was delicious: the cucumber cool, sweet & herbal, the maitake mushroom (my particular favorite) was an umami tsunami in a creamy, garlicky bath of sauce, the pork was tender and flavorful, and the pavlova was fluffy, crisp and fruity - all together with a bottle of orange Pinot with a note of honey. It was a very satisfying meal.
The service was warm, friendly and we received a lot of attention, including a visit from the chef. We're happy to recommend, and looking forward to seeing what they'll do next.
