There aren't any suitable hotpot restaurants where I live, so I find myself driving down to Richmond Hill to satisfy the cravings. This is pretty close to the ideal for me in terms of what I'm looking for. The spicy soup with Beef Tallow is really up there in terms of restaurant hot pot flavor, the selection has almost everything I crave (except fried tofu, but fried gluten is an adequate substitute). The interior is clean, modern, boasting an impressive sauce bar, of which I indulged in the savory beef sauce and my standard mix of sesame paste, chive flower and red bean curd. On top of that, my server, KK, was prompt, polite, and attentive, and very patient with my clumsy attempts to speak in Chinese. This restaurant has my strong recommendation.
PS: One serious plus: many hotpot restaurants offer complementary fried buns with condensed milk, a nostalgic, simple indulgence that takes me back to my childhood. Here, it's part of the sauce and snack bar, which means I can add as much condensed milk as my greedy heart desires. Big win.
