Lucca Downtown

My wife and I have been avoiding wheat/gluten for months and we wanted a night to indulge in some real pasta so we chose Lucca and we were very happy we did. Extremely easy to get to and parking is available just steps away. The atmosphere is simple and pleasant for upscale Italian. No need to worry about a dress code as the vibe is very professional yet casual. The host greeted us immediately and showed to our table. Mindy was our server and she is obviously a pro. She knew just when to check on us, ask us our needs and spaced out our food properly without making us feel rushed. We began with pumpkin ravioli and Margherita flatbread. The pumpkin ravioli is sooo good. The accompanying sauce is a blend of brown butter cream and balsamic. Toasted walnuts also. Some goat cheese or crème fraiche maybe? Excellent! The flatbread is unassuming yet perfect. Crispy and cheesy with the sauce you’d want. Our entrees were the bolognese and the tortelloni. Both dishes served piping hot, in bowls, and very generous portions. We both took about half home. The pasta is cooked to perfect al dente and it made our night. Bread and olive oil was brought out at the beginning of our meal and that bread was also soft, chewy and delicious. Real bread has also been missing from our diet for several months. I’m disappointed I had not tried Lucca sooner than this. We will be back. And to top off our night Mindy acknowledged that it was my birthday and gave me a complimentary dessert to take home. Very nice.
