Loads of gluten free options, never had any issue with cross contamination

***BEWARE CELIACS*** I was delighted to have located another gluten free spot in Sligo. I had an amazing meal Tuesday. Full fry Gluten free. Nice Manager fella served me & emphasised GF when taking the order to be fair to him. My partner and I had received horrendous news the day before so this was a nice treat. 2 days later came back. Young blonde waitress taking orders. Friendly to lady in front of me. I didn’t even get a greeting. I asked for the same thing GF Fry & Latte. Grand. Meal comes. Had my toast, tomato and copped that there was pudding in it. Went down to confirm GF and she claimed I didn’t order GF…. ? A pregnant celiac… If she hadn’t been so ignorant to me she would have heard right. I had ate glutened bread to my horror! I am 22 weeks pregnant. I miscarried last year after accidental glutening in a Barcelona restaurant due to language barrier but where’s the excuse here? I was infuriated by the carelessness. I demanded my refund. Spoke to the Manager who seemed sound and said would speak to her. It takes very little to show respect and a listening ear to a Customer. The place was dead as it was so early in the morning so there’s no excuse for her not paying attention to me. We all have crap in our lives and I don’t know what was going on for her personally but when serving food you HAVE to be mindful. Recommendation: Waiting staff should confirm when order put in if ‘Regular or Gluten Free’. I personally will definitely not be back until post-baby as I’m petrified of eating out again now inc of any damage caused to my daughter. It sucks that the actions of others can have some detrimental effects. I feel horrific now symptoms-wise, I am facing into 32 hours work the next 3 days and I’m also highly concerned about my baby when this is already a high-risk pregnancy. It’s not good enough. The refund went straight into the pharmacy full amount trying to find a remedy but nothing helps when you are actually Celiac. Gorgeous spot. Nice food when served actually gluten free- just PLEASE repeat it 10 times if you have to that you are Celiac/Gluten intolerant. Don’t make the same mistake I did in trusting that my Server was paying attention to me.
