*** MUST READ*** *** Usually take pictures but I was sooo disappointed *** We’ve been coming to MAÍZ since the day it opened, and I used to tell everyone how amazing it was. Sadly, it’s gone completely downhill—especially in the last few visits. I don’t know if the original owners sold or what happened, but the service and food have hit rock bottom. This last visit was the final straw. My young daughter has a gluten allergy, and it’s already tough on her feeling different from her siblings when she can’t eat the same things. So imagine how disheartening it is when a restaurant outright refuses to accommodate her—even on a slow Tuesday. Swapping a flour tortilla for corn? Too much trouble, apparently. The kitchen flat-out refused, and our server made her re-pick something else after we already ordered. Then the food shows up and it’s not even what we ordered. The waitress assumed we were ordering off the Taco Tuesday menu even though we pointed to the specific items. It was wrong and lackluster, but the real kicker was waiting over 30 minutes for the check. We mentioned the issues and got a half-hearted “do you want a manager?” Nope. Not worth it. This used to be one of our favorites, but it’s clear the standards have tanked. I’m heartbroken to say we’re done with MAÍZ. There are plenty of restaurants that will actually care about our business—and about kids with real food allergies.

Cannot believe that they will not accommodate a gluten allergy on a Tuesday. Too busy to swap out flour and corn tortillas? The kitchen straight up REFUSED to accommodate an allergy. I was a huge fan of this place, but making my daughter review the menu again and pick another item after we ordered is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Food came and it was not exactly what we expected. The waitress assumed we ordered off the Taco Tuesday menu (even though we POINTED to the items we wanted). Icing on the cake was waiting over 30 minutes for our bill then having to pay for the food that was lack luster. I voiced my concerns to the waitress and she didn’t seem to care much and asked if I wanted a manager. No thanks. Plenty of other establishments closer to home that appreciate my family’s regular business.
