My husband and I love the food at Mission BBQ, and given the fact that we choose to avoid gluten and high carb foods, it can make eating out challenging! However, we are usually quite content with the meat samplers, green beans, and cold slaw, but sometimes we have some potatoes, along with a variety of sugar free drinks. I wish the cheesy potatoes were a staple menu item!
Over the last few weeks, life became very stressful as my husband was going through multiple diagnostic tests. We went to MBBQ after an MRI on 7/28, and we were approached by an angel employee named Maria. She asked how we were and may have seen the bandage on his arm. We looked at each other and got teary eyed. Maria was so kind, and soon came back with the sweetest little handwritten sign on brown paper, plus a plate of brownies and banana pudding! We wouldn't have eaten them typically, but that day was different! We promised to come back and let her know how the tests, prayers, and good wishes turned out.
We returned on 8/12, and Maria spotted us first! Again, she took the time to come talk with us like old friends. We got the best possible news from the doctor, considering many other scenarios, and came back to "celebrate" the blessing of his news, good food, and big-hearted patriotic friends!
This is truly a very special organization. We are so grateful for the sense of comradery among those who serve(d), respect for our great nation, and never forgetting the sacrifices of those who made it what it is for all.
We love the rustic atmosphere, military/law enforcement/ firefighter/rescue memorabilia, very attentive employees, various booths, picnic style tables, and pub tables/chairs. There are multiple BBQ sauces, but we stick with the delicious vinegar mix.
Don't miss this!
