MOODUS BBQ

After spending a beautiful day with family on the Essex train & steamboat, wandering around Gillett Castle grounds; we were very ready for a good meal and a nice place to sit and visit. Moodus BBQ was the perfect choice. Tantalizing smells greeted us along with easy seating in a cozy, family friendly dining room. The menu had a great selection of all things BBQ - pulled pork & chicken, ribs, wings and sausages. There was a good selection of appetizers & side dishes, including cornbread which isn't typically offered in this area. Our family has several different diet restrictions and all of us - even gluten free, found something they liked. The service was accommodating quickly bringing crayons etc for the kids and an additional pitchure of water when we all ordered water. It was nice to see other large families there enjoying themselves too. We lingered visiting but did not feel rushed. As we were leaving the owner came outside with us and thanked us for "stopping by". If only I didn't live in Illinois, I would certainly be "stopping by" again soon. I hope local folks know how blessed they are with Moodus BBQ!
