I had picked up an order for friends sometime ago and decided that the pictures, smells, and descriptions, which all led to the vision of yummy, might be worth the trip. So, on a recent jaunt to Cleveland with a close friend via the I-71 corridor, we made the choice to try this unique dining venue. Mooyah is, by all definitions, a burger joint with a flair of creativity in the design of their fare. For my meal, I ordered the Double Diablo. A sandwich with two beef patties, bacon, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, and a spicy mayo. I added grilled mushrooms(cost extra), made it a combo with fries and a drink. I also spent extra for the spicy cheese dip for my French fries. Important things to note: if you prefer to do gluten-free, they do offer a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. They do have a beverage refill station in the dining room if you choose to eat in. Not only does it have the traditional sodas, but they now feature the tractor brand as well, which is an organic beverage company. On to the review. The food was portioned well and quenched my hunger. The fries were fresh and tasty. The spicy cheese dip for the fries was good, but not something that would be a standout when making a recommendation to someone else. The most important part of the meal is the burger. Before I speak on this, let me say there were non-stop people coming in and out of this restaurant every few minutes to either pick up or place orders. Which would normally tell me this is the place to go. My father would have said to pick a place where the cook is a little more filled out at the waist band, because that meant they ate their own cookin' if you catch my drift. My take on the burger is this; Presentation- It didn't look like the menu photo. Ingredients- Everything that was supposed to be on it was there. Messy- A little (A tasty burger should have a little of that fall apart). Size - looked like a decent sized sandwich. Price- For the combo meal with a small unlimited refillable beverage, grilled mushrooms added, and spicy cheese dip. Almost $24 with tax, for ONE meal. TASTE - This one thing is what makes or breaks a restaurant. Everything else is a minor condition. In this case, I felt the burger meat itself was not prepared with any seasonings. Not even the basics, but rather depended solely on the toppings to carry it over the finish line. To me, the toppings were good, and despite the meal being filling, the taste of the toppings just wasn't enough to support a return visit. As with all things, this is just my take on things. You might like it.
