Maldron Hotel Oranmore Galway

From the minute we arrived we had a lovely warm welcome, the rooms were lovely it was nice and central aswell as we went up to go to Elf Town and the Christmas Markets and nothing was more then a 15 min drive. My little man loved the games room it's a great touch to the place. The breakfast in the morning was fab aswell the chef went out of his way to prepare me a serperate cooked breakfast as I was coeliac and didn't want to risk the self service cooked breakfast bits that were gluten free . Will definitely return when in galway again.

We booked double room for 2 people of course. Check in and check out at the reception was quick, receptionist was nice. We came to our room. Towels in the bathroom ready for one person only, I found another set in the wardrobe, not prepared in the bathroom. The double bed was the smallest double I've ever seen, it was smaller than standard double, two people 6foot3 and 5foot9 are not able to fit in that size bed. I'm surprised hotel at that level has such a small beds. We went for dinner into hotel's bar. Staff was very busy talking to each other, those talks were more important than customers. Place was not busy at all. Plus point -there were vegan options for all courses. Food was nice. We got soups, no spoons, waiter said he was going to bring them. It took him over 5mins, then my husband stood up and was going get those spoons himself, as the soups was getting cold. That triggered the waiter to stop talking to his colleague and start to move towards those spoons for us. So evening service was very poor. On the other hand breakfast staff was the best I've ever seen. Friendly and very helpful. Went beyond their duties. Food was nice, there were 3 different dairy free milk alternatives , also gluten free options and big variety of herbal and flavoured teas. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I've got 3 annoying emails asking to write a review, so here it is.
