Mamani Restaurant

Simply wonderful – a big thank you to Shayan and the Mamani team! I was in Essen for two evenings and discovered Mamani by chance online – what a stroke of luck! The website alone won me over, including the mention of gluten-free pasta – a huge plus for me. The restaurant is small, very cozy, and decorated with great attention to detail. Warm lighting, stylish colors, not a sterile atmosphere, but a genuine sense of well-being – exactly my style. I was there with my husband on the second evening, and we were both thrilled with the food: The "Verdure" antipasti platter was lovingly presented and delicious. The arugula salad with mascarpone cream was a real surprise – a combination we'd never had before, but it tasted fantastic. I had pasta with truffle sauce – perfectly seasoned, wonderfully creamy. My husband chose the Argentinian premium fillet, which absolutely deserved its name: tender, cooked to perfection, and of the highest quality. For dessert, there was a homemade tiramisu, which rounded off the evening deliciously. I would also like to particularly highlight the saltimbocca, which I ate on one of the two evenings – simply outstanding. Everything was homemade, fresh, and prepared with great care – you can taste the quality and passion that went into every detail. Dear Shayan, thank you for two wonderful evenings, for the great cuisine and warm hospitality. We would love to come back and wholeheartedly recommend Mamani!

Effortful. Without a doubt. The food was okay. A good attempt, but not Italian. Italy has never seen so much (raw) on the bruschetta. Fish was also no longer available, even though there were three dishes on the menu. And that on a weekday. Also, no light beer, even though it's on the menu. Instead, they served wheat beer. Despite immediately swapping it for another drink, it's a shame. Positive: gluten-free pasta, seasonal cuisine also positive. Service very friendly. It's a shame there wasn't more.

Ended up here on a business trip due to its proximity to the train station. So far everything is fine, the price is quite expensive, but a lot of it is actually handmade. I find the offer of gluten-free pasta very critical. Preparation of pasta and pizza with normal flour in the same kitchen makes 100% gluten-free preparation impossible. A no go for real intolerance.
